Purpose of the Role
We are looking for a skilled Technical Support Engineer to provide expert technical assistance to the General Manager (GM) and ensure seamless operational efficiency. This role involves strategic technical support, problem-solving, data analysis, and stakeholder coordination to enhance business performance.
Key Responsibilities for the Fraser Alexander Artisan Assistant
1. Technical Support & Operations
Provide technical advice and guidance to the General Manager as needed.
Assist in the development, review, and execution of technical strategies.
Identify and resolve technical issues across departments, ensuring smooth operations.
Monitor key operational metrics and generate analytical performance reports.
Coordinate and facilitate technical meetings, ensuring follow-ups on action items.
2. Management Support
Ensure that technical strategies align with organizational goals.
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and performance dashboards for senior management.
Support employee engagement initiatives to enhance team collaboration.
Arrange and manage meetings, schedules, and logistics for the GM.
Assist in executing identified tasks that contribute to business success.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to share relevant information.
Facilitate collaborative processes with various business units and technical teams.
Engage with vendors, consultants, and clients to support project objectives.
4. Administrative & Budget Management
Ensure site budgets are monitored and adhered to.
Organize, process, and digitally archive important documentation.
Assist with escalating operational matters to the relevant committees and decision-makers.
Handle ad hoc administrative tasks to support daily operations.
5. Communication & Reporting
Act as a liaison between the GM and operational teams, ensuring clear communication of priorities.
Represent the GM in meetings, prepare briefing notes, and follow up on key decisions.
Ensure timely distribution of information across relevant teams and departments.
Compile accurate reports by gathering data from stakeholders and submitting it as required.
Maintain digital archives on platforms like SharePoint and Teams for easy access to information.
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Background
BSc Engineering Honours in Civil Engineering or Mining Engineering.
ECSA/SAICE registration (preferred but not mandatory).
Business Management qualification (advantageous).
Experience
2-3 years’ experience in an engineering or tailings management role.
2+ years of operational experience in a similar environment (preferred).
Power BI proficiency (advantageous for data analysis and reporting).
Skills & Competencies
Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills (written & verbal).
Proficiency in report writing and presentations.
Effective time management, planning, and organizational skills.
Ability to troubleshoot operational challenges efficiently.
Strong interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
Exceptional attention to detail and critical thinking abilities.
Advanced computer literacy (MS Office Suite, SharePoint, Teams, Power BI).
Excellent networking abilities to foster business relationships.
Valid driver’s license and own vehicle required.
