Position Overview
The Installation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and removal of Globaltrack’s vehicle tracking systems and related solutions. This role requires a proactive, hands-on individual with strong technical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems during installations or service calls.
Key Responsibilities
1. Installations

Install vehicle tracking devices, fuel sensors, and other hardware in accordance with Globaltrack’s quality standards and procedures.

Ensure installations are neat, secure, and compliant with both client and internal requirements.
2. Maintenance & Repairs

Conduct regular system health checks to ensure proper functionality and reliability.

Troubleshoot and repair hardware issues efficiently, replacing faulty components when necessary.
3. De-Installations
-
Safely remove tracking equipment from vehicles when required.

Return all removed equipment to the warehouse department, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
4. Administration & Documentation

Maintain accurate records of all installations, maintenance, repairs, and de-installations.

Complete job cards and service reports promptly and submit them to the relevant department.

Manage fuel slips and other documentation as per company policy.
5. Compliance & Safety

Adhere to all company safety procedures and industry standards during technical work.

Ensure tools, stock, and equipment are properly handled, stored, and maintained.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
-
Matric certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent.

Technical training or certification in electronics, automotive systems, or a related field is advantageous.

Computer literate.

Valid driver’s license.
Experience
-
1–2 years of hands-on experience in vehicle electronic systems, auto-electrical work, or similar technical installations.

Previous experience with vehicle tracking systems is a strong advantage.
Skills and Competencies

Strong technical aptitude in electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic systems.

Ability to identify and resolve issues independently.

Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic tools, and installation equipment.

Willingness to travel to customer sites.

Flexible to work after-hours or weekends, when needed.

Physically able to work on vehicle interiors/exteriors, including under vehicles and in confined spaces.

Clear criminal record required.
