A leading company in the engineering and mining industry is seeking a dedicated Assistant Fitter to join its Pump Fitting Section. This role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals with mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience in an industrial environment to develop their skills and gain valuable experience in pump maintenance and repair.
Minimum Qualifying Criteria
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Grade 11 or equivalent qualification.
Proficiency in English and any of the 11 official South African languages.
Good verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members and supervisors.
Basic pump fitting knowledge (advantageous but not mandatory).
1-2 years of experience in an industrialized environment (essential).
South African Citizenship is required.
A clear criminal record is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities For The Gold One Group Artisan Assistant Fitting
As an Assistant Fitter, you will be responsible for providing critical support to the Engineering Pump Fitting Section. Your duties will include:
Assisting artisans and fitters in performing maintenance and repair tasks on industrial pumps and associated equipment.
Working on a rotational shift schedule to ensure continuous operational support.
Carrying toolboxes, hand tools, and other essential equipment to support maintenance activities.
Maintaining good housekeeping standards in and around the workspace.
Disassembling and re-assembling pumps and related machinery using hand tools.
Participating in maintenance and breakdown repairs on both underground and surface pumps.
Ensuring that all tasks are carried out in accordance with mine safety standards, procedures, and best practices.
Complying with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and adhering to the company’s safety policies and protocols.
