Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to assist in the accurate, safe, and efficient supervision, setup, installation, maintenance, and commissioning of electrical systems. This includes the full spectrum of electrical wiring, control, and instrumentation systems both on-site and in the workshop. The Electrician will also assist in fault finding and repairs, and provide technical and administrative support to the Project Manager, including coordination of execution, data entry, documentation, and basic research.
Minimum Qualifications:

Matric (Grade 12)

N3 Certificate in Electrical Engineering

Trade Test Certificate (Electrician)
-
ORHVS Certificate (advantageous)
-
First Aid Level 1 (advantageous)
Required Experience:
-
2–3 years of hands-on experience in electrical systems within an engineering or construction environment

Experience with panel wiring, fault finding, and repairing electrical systems

Proven exposure to maintaining:
-
MV switchgear
-
Transformers
-
UPS systems
-
Interior and exterior lighting
-
Low voltage (LV) building installations
-
Backup generators
-
Key Responsibilities:
Installation & Assembly:
-
Assist with assembling, installing, and testing electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand and power tools

Plan installation layouts in accordance with job specifications and local codes

Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, including Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
Maintenance & Repairs:
-
Conduct routine maintenance on electrical infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime and safety

Replace defective components and wiring using appropriate tools and techniques
-
Perform maintenance tasks from ladders, scaffolding, or rooftops when necessary
Diagnostics & Troubleshooting:

Use test equipment and tools to diagnose system malfunctions and identify repair needs

Connect circuits to breakers, transformers, and related systems
-
Conduct inspections to detect hazards, defects, and compliance issues, and recommend or perform corrective actions
