Purpose of the Apprenticeship Programme
The purpose of this apprenticeship is to provide learners with structured technical training and hands-on workplace experience, enabling them to achieve an Artisan qualification (NQF Level 3–4). This programme is aligned with the requirements of the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) and aims to meet the operational and productivity needs of the Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine.
 Core Responsibilities & Programme Structure
Apprentices will be required to:

Adhere to all requirements outlined in the learning agreement

Participate in a three-year structured artisan development programme

Complete a combination of on-the-job training and institutional classroom-based learning
-
Take ownership of their learning journey and proactively engage in skills development

Demonstrate competence and trade-related proficiency as outlined in the qualification framework

Apply acquired knowledge to support operational efficiency within the mining sector
Minimum Entry Requirements For The 2025 Boilermaker Plater Learnership Program
Applicants must meet one of the following qualification criteria:

Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Natural Science
OR -
N2 Certificate with four trade-specific subjects (e.g. Engineering Science, Mathematics, Trade Theory)
 Key Knowledge and Skills Required

Fluent communication skills in English (written and verbal)

Passion for learning and development within the mining and engineering trades

Strong problem-solving mindset and work ethic
-
Ability to work in physically demanding conditions and follow instructions

Willingness to commit to the full 3-year artisan training programme
