The eThekwini Municipality invites unemployed graduates and TVET students to apply for its Graduate and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Internship Programme for 2025. This initiative offers workplace exposure, practical skills, and hands-on training in engineering and built environment disciplines.

This is an excellent opportunity for young South African professionals to gain valuable experience and start their careers within a dynamic municipal environment.

Internship Overview

• Duration:

  • 18 months for TVET N6 students completing WIL for diploma recognition

  • 24 months for university graduates with diplomas or degrees

• Fields of Study Considered:

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Auto Electrician

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Chemical Engineering

  • Civil Engineering

  • Industrial Engineering

  • Process Instrumentation

  • Building and Quantity Surveying

  • Town Planning

  • Property Studies

  • Built Environment

  • Operations Management

  • Shipping and Logistics

  • Construction Management

Minimum Eligibility Requirements For The 2026 Engineering Work Experience Program

Applicants must:

• Be South African citizens

• Have completed a relevant qualification (degree, diploma, or N6 for WIL)

• Have no previous work experience in an internship, in-service training, or WIL programme exceeding 12 months

• Ensure their qualification is not older than 5 years

• Be unemployed and available for the full duration of the internship

• Persons with disabilities who meet the requirements are encouraged to apply
