 Job Overview
We are seeking a highly capable and motivated Transmission Line Worker with a strong foundation in Electrical (Light or Heavy Current) to join our technical operations team. This role is focused on performing line inspections, servitude maintenance, and hardware repairs across the transmission network. It also includes active participation in restoration efforts during emergencies.
The ideal candidate will have a relevant Trade Certificate in Electrical Engineering, be safety-focused, physically fit, and comfortable working in high-risk and outdoor environments.
 Minimum Requirements For 5 Eskom Artisan Electrical Jobs
 Qualifications

Trade Certificate in Electrical (Light Current or Heavy Current) – NQF Level 4 (minimum 120 credits)
 Experience
-
Hands-on exposure to NTCSA network and transmission-related equipment, particularly in lines and servitude maintenance
 Skills and Competencies
 Technical Knowledge
-
Fundamentals of electrical or mechanical engineering
-
Strong understanding of line components, hardware, and fault detection
-
Vegetation management techniques and tools
-
Occupational hazards and safety precautions in line work
-
Principles of electrical theory relevant to transmission networks
-
Familiarity with Transmission Network Operations
-
Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, including hazardous substances
-
ORHVS Authorisation (Outcome 2) to take and hand over lines (under supervision)

Level 3 maintenance competency authorisation

Clear written and verbal communication

Sound computer literacy – Microsoft Word, Excel & general reporting tools

Perform supervised line inspections, servitude maintenance, and hardware repairs

Conduct routine and emergency fault investigations

Support power line restoration efforts following outages or breakdowns

Operate, maintain, and inspect technical tools and equipment

Ensure compliance with internal Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) policies

Engage in vegetation control and site preparation activities
-
Represent the company professionally in customer and stakeholder interactions

Accurately report work activities, safety incidents, and maintenance records
