Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Maintenance Fitter or Millwright to join our team in maintaining critical mechanical equipment in grain storage silos and plant facilities. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining and repairing grain handling systems to ensure operational efficiency and safety. Candidates with prior experience in silo or agricultural processing plants will have an advantage.

 Key Responsibilities For The Afgri Artisan Mechanical Vacancy

• Conduct planned and emergency maintenance of all mechanical systems in the grain silos.

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and replace worn parts on grain conveyors and mechanical equipment.

• Order spare parts, manage stock levels, and perform system repairs proactively.

• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards at all times.

• Perform regular inspections of all equipment and company vehicles.

• Manage subordinates’ performance and identify training and development needs.

• Address any equipment-related deviations with appropriate disciplinary or corrective action.

 Minimum Qualifications and Training

• Trade Certificate in Fitting or Millwright

• Valid Driver’s License

• N3 or equivalent in a mechanical-related discipline (preferred)

 Minimum Work Experience

• Minimum 3 years post-trade certification experience as a Fitter and/or Millwright

• Prior experience working in a grain handling or silo facility is highly advantageous

 Technical Skills and Competencies

• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude

• Hands-on experience with mechanical drive systems, conveyor systems, gearboxes, bearings, etc.

• Sound problem-solving and fault-finding abilities

• Strong understanding of preventative maintenance principles

• Ability to work independently and proactively
