Job Description
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our On-sites Operations team at our Vanderbijlpark facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical maintenance, with expertise in large industrial and heavy rotating equipment.
Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and availability of plant mechanical equipment while maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities For The Air Products Mechanical Fitter
Safety & Compliance

Maintain full compliance with legal, safety, and company maintenance standards.
Equipment Maintenance
-
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on plant equipment.

Troubleshoot and repair mechanical faults to minimize downtime.
Continuous Improvement
-
Participate in problem-solving initiatives to improve plant efficiency.

Recommend improvements to maintenance processes and equipment reliability.
Stakeholder Engagement
-
Collaborate effectively with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders to meet operational requirements.
Minimum Requirements
-
Matric / Grade 12 qualification
-
N3 Mechanical Certificate (minimum)

Red Seal Trade Test – Fitter or Fitter & Turner
-
5+ years’ experience with large industrial and plant equipment
-
5+ years’ experience with heavy rotating equipment
-
ASU (Air Separation Unit) plant experience – advantageous
-
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
-
Willingness to work overtime and standby duties as needed

Proficiency in MS Office Suite

Valid, unendorsed driver’s license and own transport
