Are you a skilled Diesel-Electrical Fitter with Red Seal certification? We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious professional to join our Engineering and Maintenance team. You will be responsible for maintaining, testing, and ensuring the safe operation of diesel and electrical equipment within our plant. Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

• Adhere to all company and regulatory health and safety policies and procedures.

• Promote and maintain high housekeeping standards in work areas.

• Serve as a role model in safety by following and enforcing safety standards.

• Foster a culture of accountability and zero harm among team members and learners.

Equipment & Machinery Maintenance

• Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and testing on diesel and electrical equipment.

• Troubleshoot, identify, and repair faults to ensure minimal downtime.

• Maintain adequate spare parts inventory and ensure availability of necessary components.

• Record all maintenance activity through detailed and timely job cards.

• Keep tools and toolboxes clean, secure, and in proper working condition.

• Handover outstanding maintenance issues clearly between shifts.

Training & Mentorship

• Provide clear, hands-on instruction to learners and junior team members.

• Monitor performance, provide feedback, and ensure safe work practices are followed.

• Actively coach and support learner development in line with apprenticeship/training goals.

Team Support & Communication

• Collaborate effectively with supervisors and co-workers to meet maintenance objectives.

• Share technical knowledge and best practices with colleagues.

• Support departmental teamwork and assist with complex problem-solving as needed.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric with N3 Technical Certificate

• Trade Test Certificate: Diesel-Electrical Fitter or Millwright (Red Seal)

• Valid South African Driver’s License – Code B

Experience

• Minimum 2 years post-trade operational experience as a Diesel-Electrical Fitter

• Experience with:

  • Preventative maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Heavy industrial machinery and electrical systems

  • Maintenance documentation (job cards, reports)

  • Oil sampling methods and lubrication systems

Key Skills & Competencies

• Solid knowledge of artisan tools and mechanical/electrical techniques

• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations (OHS Act)

• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and documentation

• Analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Excellent time management and task prioritization
