Job Purpose
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Warehouse Assistant to support the efficient operation of our warehouse function. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in inventory management, safe handling of materials, stock movement, and overall housekeeping in line with company procedures and safety standards. This role is vital in ensuring an uninterrupted flow of materials and supporting the supply chain within our operation.
 Safety, Health & Environmental Responsibilities

Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and hazard-free work environment in compliance with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) standards.

Actively participate in SLAMs (Stop, Look, Assess, Manage) and High-Potential Hazards (HPHs) initiatives.

Follow all safety protocols and perform work in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA).

Promote good housekeeping practices using the 5S methodology to maintain cleanliness and organisation in the warehouse.
 Key Responsibilities & Duties
-
Receive, bin, pick, issue, and move inventory in line with warehouse procedures and system requirements.

Resolve GRV (Goods Received Voucher) system queries in collaboration with the inventory and procurement teams.

Conduct inventory cycle counting, bin verification, and stock rotation using FIFO (First-In-First-Out) principles.

Report inventory discrepancies, damages, or operational hazards to the supervisor promptly.

Maintain material records and submit logbooks, forms, reports, and other required documentation for internal control and audit compliance.

Organise and utilise floor space based on inventory design principles, engineering specs, and safety guidelines.

Manage the delivery of reserved materials to production areas in a timely and accurate manner.

Ensure efficient use of materials handling equipment (e.g. forklifts, reach trucks) in accordance with operational and safety protocols.

Support the process of moving redundant stock to designated zones to optimise storage capacity.

Help maintain and improve On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) performance in both the receiving and issuing of materials.
 Required Qualifications For The Anglo American Warehouse Assistant

Grade 12 / N3 Technical Qualification
-
Preferably a Certificate in Supply Chain Management or Logistics (NQF 4)

Valid SA Driver’s Licence (Code B)
Preferred Licences (Advantageous but not compulsory):

Forklift License
-
Overhead Crane Operation
-
Reach Truck and/or Truck Licence
 Required Skills & Competencies
-
2 to 3 years of hands-on warehouse or stock control experience
-
Computer literacy – Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SAP ERP systems

Good organizational and problem-solving skills
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Understanding of inventory management systems, warehousing principles, and materials handling safety
-
Effective verbal and written communication skills
