Multifranchise Menlyn, a well-established and reputable automotive dealership group, is offering an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and motivated Apprentice Level 2 – Motor Mechanic Technician to join their professional service team in Menlyn, Gauteng.

The apprenticeship programme is designed to combine practical workplace experience with formal technical training. As an Apprentice Level 2, you will continue building on the skills and knowledge gained during your Level 1 training and will gradually be exposed to more complex mechanical systems and repair procedures.
You will work under the supervision of qualified technicians and the Service Manager, ensuring that all work is performed according to manufacturer standards, dealership procedures, and strict safety regulations. The ultimate objective of this role is to prepare you for qualification as a Motor Mechanic Technician.
The purpose of this position is to provide structured on-the-job training to a developing apprentice, while supporting the workshop team with day-to-day vehicle servicing, maintenance, and repair work. The apprentice will assist qualified technicians, learn correct diagnostic and repair techniques, and develop the discipline, work ethic, and technical competence required in a modern automotive workshop.
The successful candidate will be required to perform a wide range of duties in the workshop, including but not limited to the following:
Assisting qualified technicians with the servicing, maintenance, and repair of motor vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications and dealership standards
Removing, replacing, and refitting vehicle parts, components, and mechanical units
Learning how to correctly use workshop tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments
Jacking up vehicles and placing them safely on lifting equipment and trestles
Performing basic lubrication services, including oil changes and fluid replacements under supervision
Removing and refitting wheels and tyres and learning correct torque procedures
Removing and replacing air filters, oil filters, fuel filters, and other service components
Assisting with general mechanical repairs such as brakes, suspension, steering, and engine-related work
Learning basic fault-finding and diagnostic procedures using both manual and computerised systems
Removing and fitting batteries and assisting with basic electrical system checks
Cleaning parts, tools, and components after use and ensuring they are stored correctly
Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment at all times
Performing general housekeeping duties in the workshop and service areas
Keeping tools, equipment, overalls, and workstations clean and in good condition
Attending all prescribed technical training courses, assessments, and apprenticeship level modules
Strictly adhering to all health and safety rules, policies, and procedures
Following instructions from qualified technicians, foremen, and the Service Manager
Performing any other reasonable duties related to workshop operations as required by management

Must have successfully completed an Apprentice Level 1 qualification
A valid Driver’s License will be an added advantage
Must have a clear criminal record
Basic mechanical and technical knowledge will be a strong advantage
A strong interest in the automotive industry and vehicle technology
Willingness to learn, take instructions, and continuously improve technical skills
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Good customer service orientation and a professional work ethic
Must be reliable, disciplined, punctual, and committed to completing the apprenticeship programme
Must be physically fit and able to work in a workshop environment
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a busy service department
The role is based in a busy automotive dealership workshop environment. The apprentice will be exposed to:
Mechanical repairs and vehicle servicing activities
Workshop tools, machinery, and lifting equipment
Noise, oils, lubricants, and automotive chemicals
Standing for long periods and performing physical work
A fast-paced, performance-driven service department
