As part of our County Fair Processing Plant in Fisantekraal, we are currently seeking a motivated and skilled Mechanical Assistant to join our dynamic maintenance team.

 Purpose of the Role For The County Fair Mechanical Assistant

The Mechanical Assistant will support the maintenance team in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of poultry processing equipment. This role plays a vital part in minimizing downtime, maintaining product quality, and upholding the highest health and safety standards in line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and HACCP protocols.

 Minimum Qualifications

• N2 qualification or equivalent in mechanical or relevant engineering field

 Preferred Experience

• Previous hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance and repair

• Exposure to poultry processing equipment and rendering plant machinery will be a strong advantage

 Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Assistant, your daily duties will include:

• Performing routine and preventative maintenance on processing plant machinery

• Responding promptly to unscheduled breakdowns and mechanical faults

• Supporting the installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment

• Maintaining compliance with 20 Keys principles, HACCP regulations, and internal housekeeping standards

• Assisting artisans and technicians in executing mechanical projects

• Logging issues, repairs, and maintenance records accurately

 Key Requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates must:

• Be fluent in English and at least one additional official South African language

• Be computer literate (basic systems, CMMS, or maintenance logging software)

• Be willing and able to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and public holidays

• Have reliable personal transport

• Demonstrate a strong safety mindset, attention to detail, and ability to follow SOPs
