Job Overview For Driver – Volvo Trucks

An exciting opportunity is available for a Warehouse Assistant / Driver to join the Volvo Trucks team. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth handling, storage, and delivery of parts and goods in line with customer expectations and operational standards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a combination of warehouse operations and delivery duties, including receiving stock, picking and packing parts, and ensuring timely deliveries. This position requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

This is an ideal role for individuals who are hands-on, reliable, and customer-focused, with experience in warehouse operations and driving.

Purpose of the Role

The primary purpose of this role is to support the supply chain by ensuring that all parts and goods are received, stored, handled, and delivered accurately and efficiently.

The role contributes directly to customer satisfaction by ensuring that deliveries are completed on time and that all warehouse processes meet quality and safety standards.

Reporting Structure

• This position reports directly to the Parts Controller

Key Responsibilities

Receiving and Inventory Management

• Receive incoming parts and verify that all documentation is accurate and complete
• Ensure proper recording and binning of stock in designated storage locations
• Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with stock control processes

Picking, Packing and Dispatch

• Pick parts accurately according to customer orders or internal requests
• Pack items securely to prevent damage during transport
• Prepare goods for dispatch in line with company procedures
• Ensure all dispatch documentation is completed correctly

Delivery Operations

• Deliver parts and goods to customers or internal departments as required
• Ensure Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation is completed and returned
• Plan and manage delivery routes to ensure timely service
• Provide professional and courteous service to customers during deliveries

Compliance and Quality Assurance

• Adhere to ISO 9001 quality standards and company policies
• Follow all health and safety regulations
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment

General Warehouse Duties

• Assist with general warehouse operations and housekeeping
• Support team members to ensure smooth daily operations
• Handle additional tasks as assigned by management

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Matric (Grade 12)

Licenses

• Valid Driver’s License (Code 8)
• Valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit) – required

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Warehouse Assistant, Driver, or similar role
• Experience in logistics, parts handling, or supply chain operations will be advantageous
