This comprehensive Mechanical Fitting Apprenticeship Programme is designed to equip learners with the practical skills, technical knowledge and real workplace experience needed to build a successful career in the mechanical engineering and maintenance field.
Through a combination of classroom theory, hands-on practical training and structured on-the-job experience with leading industry partners, apprentices will gain a solid foundation in:

Mechanical maintenance, servicing and repair of industrial equipment

Fitting — assembling, dismantling, overhauling and replacing plant-specific machinery and components

Safe use of hand tools, power tools and precision measuring instruments

Fault finding, diagnosis and problem-solving in mechanical and automated systems

Adherence to engineering drawings, tolerances and safety standards

Minimum Requirements For The DSTCT 2025 Mechanical Fitting Apprenticeship

Grade 12 or equivalent qualification with a minimum 50% pass in Mathematics and Physical Science (Higher Grade preferred)

Must currently reside in Durban

Commitment to learning, safety awareness and mechanical aptitude
