Applicants are invited to apply for the Engineering Learnership Millwright 18.2
Valterra Platinum is inviting applications from ambitious and motivated individuals for its Engineering Learnership Programme (18.2 – Unemployed). This opportunity is designed for individuals who are passionate about engineering and eager to gain valuable industry experience while working toward a recognised artisan qualification.
The learnership programme provides participants with the chance to develop their technical skills, workplace experience, and professional knowledge within one of the most important sectors of the South African economy — the mining industry.
Successful applicants will be placed at the Rustenburg Process operations located in Rustenburg, where they will receive structured training and practical exposure to engineering operations in a real industrial environment.
If you are someone who enjoys solving problems, working with machinery, and building practical technical skills, this programme could be the ideal starting point for a long-term and rewarding career.
Valterra Platinum is a globally recognised producer of platinum group metals (PGMs), with integrated mining, smelting, and refining operations located in South Africa and Zimbabwe. The company supplies platinum group metals to markets around the world, supporting industries such as automotive manufacturing, electronics, jewellery, and clean energy technologies.
Previously operating under the name Anglo American Platinum, the organisation became an independent company following its separation from Anglo American plc.
Today, Valterra Platinum is listed on both the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange, reflecting its strong global presence and commitment to transparency and growth.
As an independent organisation, Valterra Platinum has the opportunity to pursue its own strategic direction while focusing on operational excellence, sustainability, and long-term value creation. The Engineering Learnership Programme (18.2 – Unemployed) is designed to help individuals gain the technical expertise required to become skilled artisans in the engineering and mining industries.
The programme combines formal theoretical training with practical workplace experience, ensuring that participants develop a comprehensive understanding of both engineering theory and hands-on technical work.
Participants will receive guidance and mentorship from experienced professionals while working in real operational environments. This exposure allows learners to gain practical knowledge of industrial equipment, engineering processes, and safety procedures used in modern mining operations.
By the end of the programme, learners will have gained the essential skills and experience required to pursue a successful career in the engineering field.
The following learnership opportunity is currently available:
A Millwright is a highly skilled artisan responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing both mechanical and electrical equipment used in industrial and mining environments.
