Eskom, South Africa’s leading energy provider, proudly supports the Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative—an impactful public-private partnership championed by the Presidency to address the nation’s youth unemployment crisis.

The programme provides unemployed South African youth with a 12-month work experience opportunity in the energy industry. Successful candidates will be placed across Eskom’s various business units and operations throughout South Africa.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Must be a South African Citizen

• Must be between the ages of 18 and 34

• Must have a Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification

• Post-matric qualification or certification is advantageous

• Must not be studying full-time during the placement

• Must not have previously participated in the YES Programme

• Must not have held permanent employment with a single employer for more than 12 consecutive months

Key Responsibilities For The Eskom 30 Youth Employment Service  

As a YES intern at Eskom, you will:

• Support Eskom departments in daily administrative and operational tasks

• Be placed within Eskom divisions in any of the nine provinces

• Gain practical exposure to the energy sector

• Learn professional work habits, communication, and collaboration

• Adhere to Eskom’s operational and safety standards

What is the YES Programme?
