Exxaro Resources, a leading South African mining company, is hiring an Artisan Aide at Matla Coal in Kriel, Mpumalanga. This temporary mining job is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on technical experience in one of South Africa’s most innovative mining environments.

As an Artisan Aide, you will support qualified artisans with servicing, maintenance, and overhaul of mining equipment and machinery, ensuring smooth operation, reliability, and safety. This role is ideal for candidates with a Grade 10 / Standard 8 Technical qualification, AET Level 4, and technical support experience in heavy industry.

 Key Responsibilities For The Exxaro Resources Artisan Aide X2

• Assist artisans with maintenance and repair of mining equipment.

• Perform first-level inspections and basic fault-finding on mechanical and electrical systems.

• Support both scheduled and reactive maintenance to improve equipment reliability.

• Carry out welding, cutting, and refractory installation tasks as required.

• Monitor and maintain production equipment, reporting breakdowns and assisting in immediate repairs.

• Follow all health, safety, and environmental standards, maintaining good housekeeping practices.

• Use PPE and comply with Exxaro’s SHEC (Safety, Health, Environment, and Community) standards.

• Recondition components and test repaired machinery before reinstallation.

• Collaborate with diverse teams, demonstrating accountability, adaptability, and innovation.

 Minimum Requirements

• Grade 10 / Standard 8 Technical qualification (essential)

• AET Level 4 certification (essential)

• Completion of one or more Skills Programs: AA Fitting, AA Diesel Mechanic, AA Plater Welder, or AA Electrical

• At least 1 year of experience in technical support (Helper/Operator role in heavy industry)

• Psychometric Assessment (conducted by Exxaro)

• Certificate of Fitness (conducted by Exxaro)

• Ability to perform inspections, fault-finding, welding, and cutting tasks

• Strong knowledge of health and safety practices in mining
