Job Overview For General Worker Cleaner Job Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available for a General Worker / Cleaner at Triton Express in Johannesburg. This role is essential in ensuring that the company’s operational areas, including the yard and facilities, are maintained in a clean, safe, and organised condition at all times.

The successful candidate will perform a combination of cleaning, maintenance, and general support tasks, contributing to the overall efficiency of operations. This is a hands-on role that requires physical activity, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Purpose of the Role

The primary purpose of this role is to support daily operations by ensuring that all facilities, equipment, and surrounding areas are properly maintained. By doing so, the General Worker / Cleaner helps create a safe and productive environment for staff, visitors, and operational activities.

Key Responsibilities

Yard and Facility Maintenance

• Ensure that the yard area is consistently clean, organised, and free of hazards
• Maintain outdoor and operational areas to support efficient workflow
• Monitor the condition of the yard and report any issues that may affect safety or operations

Cleaning and Housekeeping

• Perform general cleaning duties across offices, warehouses, and operational spaces
• Maintain cleanliness of shared workspaces and ensure a professional appearance at all times
• Assist with general housekeeping tasks to support daily operations

Building Maintenance

• Carry out routine building maintenance tasks, including:
  • Maintenance and repair of roller doors
  • Checking and replacing lighting where necessary
  • Floor maintenance and upkeep
  • Painting and minor structural repairs
  • Basic welding tasks (if applicable)
• Identify maintenance issues early and report them to the relevant supervisor

General Support Duties

• Assist with gardening and upkeep of outdoor areas
• Support warehouse activities where required, ensuring a clean and organised environment
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
• Assist in maintaining equipment and ensuring it is stored properly after use

Health and Safety Compliance

• Adhere to all company health and safety policies and procedures
• Ensure that all work areas are free from hazards and comply with safety standards
• Use protective equipment where required
• Report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Grade 12 (Matric)

Experience and Technical Skills

• Basic knowledge of vehicles and mechanical systems will be advantageous
• Experience using hand tools and power tools
• Previous experience in a similar role within a warehouse, logistics, or maintenance environment is beneficial
• Forklift Driver’s License is advantageous but not mandatory

Skills and Competencies

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills in English
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Good problem-solving skills and practical thinking
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards

Physical Requirements

This role is physically demanding and requires:
