Mafube Coal is an opencast mine situated 37 km east of Middelburg in Mpumalanga. As a joint venture between Thungela Resources and Exxaro Resources, Mafube Coal primarily supplies coal to the export market.

About the Learnership Programme

The Mafube Coal Learnership Programme provides learners with the opportunity to:

• Attend theoretical and practical training at CTC

• Gain valuable hands-on, on-the-job training at the mine

• Build strong foundations for a career in the mining industry

• Electrical (Ref: MAF 01 ELEC)

• Fitter (Ref: MAF 02 FIT)

• Instrumentation (Ref: MAF 03 INST)

• Rigger (Ref: MAF 04 RIG)

• Plater (Ref: MAF 05 PLAT)

Minimum Requirements For The Mafube Coal Learnership Programme 2025

Applicants must have:

• Minimum Grade 12 with relevant technical subjects for the trade applied for

• A N2 Technical Qualification in the related trade

• Sound knowledge of safety systems, regulations and standards

• Willingness to work shifts, standby, and callouts when required

• The ability to obtain a certificate of fitness

• A valid driver’s license

• Electrician: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics, Electrical Trade Theory

• Fitter: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing, Fitter & Turning Trade Theory

• Instrumentation: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics, Instrumentation Trade Theory

• Plater: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Plater Structural Steel Drawing, Plater Trade Theory

• Rigger: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing, Rigging Trade Theory
