 Duties & Responsibilities

As a Workshop Assistant, your primary role will be to assist qualified mechanics and ensure the smooth operation of workshop activities. Your duties will include:

• Passing tools and equipment to mechanics during repairs and maintenance

• Cleaning tools, vehicles (such as bakkies), and the work area to maintain a safe and organized workspace

• Stripping, cleaning, and preparing machine components

• Loading and unloading machine parts and heavy equipment

• Assisting mechanics with tasks as required

• Following all lawful and reasonable instructions given by senior staff or supervisors

Minimum Requirements For The Mechanical Assistant At Bell Equipment

• Matric (Grade 12) or ABET Level 4 qualification

• Prior experience in a workshop, mechanical, or industrial environment is an advantage

• Basic tool recognition – must be able to identify common workshop tools

• Ability to identify basic machine parts and equipment

• Must be able to communicate in English

• Willingness to work overtime and assist with urgent tasks when required

• Preference will be given to applicants residing in or near the work location
