We are offering an opportunity to train as a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice Technician within a well-established engineering facility. This structured apprenticeship combines academic study and hands-on workshop experience to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to support mechanical research and engineering projects.


Key Responsibilities For The Mechanical Engineering Apprentice Technician

  • Observe and learn a wide range of mechanical engineering skills under the guidance of experienced technical staff.

  • Demonstrate increasing independence and competence in applying engineering skills and processes.

  • Successfully complete relevant college coursework to achieve progression toward a qualification in mechanical engineering.

  • Understand and apply health and safety procedures within the workspace.

  • Develop the ability to construct or modify apparatus and instruments from technical drawings or verbal instructions.

  • Learn to maintain and repair workshop equipment to ensure smooth operations.

  • Maintain a detailed logbook of tasks, skills acquired, and projects completed throughout the apprenticeship.

  • Ensure cleanliness and proper housekeeping in the workshop and laboratory areas.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.

  • Carry out additional duties appropriate to the role and level of training.


Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12).

  • Previous experience in the engineering or steel industry is advantageous.

  • Clear criminal record.

  • Contactable references.
