Are you the type of person who notices a flickering light before anyone else does? Do you enjoy keeping things running smoothly—whether it’s a plug, a panel, or an entire powerhouse of machinery? If so, we’d like you to join us as an Electrical Maintenance Assistant.

In this role, you’ll support the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment in line with Electrical Codes, Standards, and Regulations. You’ll be part of the team that keeps production moving, warehouses powered, and offices well-lit.

Key Responsibilities For The Montego Electrical General Worker

Repairs & Maintenance

• Perform daily maintenance checks in production areas, warehouses, and offices.

• Carry out routine fixes: changing bulbs, repairing plugs, replacing switches.

• Assist with repairs to motors, transformers, generators, wiring, and more.

• Troubleshoot faults using electrical testing equipment.

• Collect the correct materials and tools to complete jobs efficiently.

Installations

• Prepare work areas and assist with domestic and industrial wiring installations.

• Support the assembly of electrical control panels and distribution boards.

• Help install electrical points, connections, and machinery.

• Measure, cut, bend, and terminate wires safely and according to standard.

• Follow strict safety procedures at all times.

Tools, Equipment & Vehicles

• Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working order.

• Ensure generators are fuelled and functional.

• Request or source consumables as needed.

Hygiene, Housekeeping & Safety

• Adhere to OHS and Food Safety Standards (FSSC 22000).

• Identify and report hazards promptly.

• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure tidy work areas.

Requirements

• Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) – Essential

• Driver’s Licence (Code B) – Essential

• Working-at-Heights Certificate – Advantageous

• Knowledge of:

  • Electrical instruments and Electrical Codes

  • Variable speed drives

  • Production machinery
