Job Description

Motus Northcliff Multifranchise is offering an exciting opportunity for an Automotive Apprentice (Motor Mechanic / Petrol). This apprenticeship is ideal for motivated individuals who want to train, qualify, and build a career as a certified Motor Mechanic and skilled Automotive Technician in the motor industry.

As part of the MerSETA-accredited apprenticeship programme, the successful candidate will gain hands-on experience repairing vehicles under the supervision of a qualified technician, complete all required level tests, and work towards becoming fully qualified within four (4) years.


Position Overview

The apprentice will:

  • Participate fully in the apprenticeship programme.

  • Assist qualified technicians with the repair and servicing of vehicles.

  • Meet all MerSETA trade requirements, pass level tests, and qualify within the maximum duration of four years.


Key Responsibilities For The Motus Level 1 Apprentice Programme

  • Attend scheduled technical and level training courses.

  • Assist with vehicle repair and maintenance tasks to gain practical, on-the-job experience.

  • Prepare thoroughly for level tests to ensure timely qualification.

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe condition.

  • Follow workplace health, safety, and conduct protocols.

  • Perform additional reasonable tasks as required.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 / Matric with Pure Mathematics and Physical Science (minimum 50% pass is advantageous).

  • Valid, unendorsed driver’s license.

  • Clear criminal record.

  • Strong mechanical insight and technical aptitude (prior experience is an advantage).


Skills & Attributes

  • Ability to operate manufacturer diagnostic equipment and computer systems.

  • Physically fit and capable of heavy-duty work.

  • Enjoy hands-on technical tasks and working with tools.

  • Comfortable working in noisy, workshop environments.

  • Excellent eyesight, hand-eye coordination, and strong problem-solving skills.

  • Mental alertness with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and writing skills (ability to complete job cards and access OEM repair information).

  • Team player, energetic, and action-oriented.
