 Job Overview

Rand Water is actively hiring a skilled Electrical Assistant to support its Electrical Section with daily maintenance, electrical repairs, system installations, and fault response across the 14 Bulk Water Distribution districts. The successful candidate will contribute to ensuring all electrical equipment is safely operational, well-maintained, and in compliance with safety regulations.

 Key Responsibilities For The Rand Water Artisan Assistant Electrical

• Assist with routine maintenance and electrical repairs on plant equipment.

• Support electrical inspections and preventive servicing schedules.

• Perform electrical installations of new equipment.

• Conduct minor repairs on appliances and electrical components.

• Carry out workshop housekeeping and maintain cleanliness in switchgear rooms, substations, and tool areas.

• Support the team during breakdowns and emergency call-outs.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12) or N3 Electrical Certificate

• N1 in Electrical Engineering

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar technical/electrical maintenance role

• Valid driver’s license (must pass Rand Water’s K-53 driving evaluation)

• Willingness to do standby duties and work under pressure

• Knowledge of electrical safety protocols and workplace regulations

 Required Knowledge

• Basic understanding of electrical principles and components

• Familiarity with hand tools, wiring, circuits, and meters

• Awareness of safe working practices in electrical environments
