About the Job
Rand Water is seeking a skilled Auto Electrician – Heavy Duty / Plant & Equipment to join our workshop team. In this high-value industrial maintenance role you will be responsible for:

Repairing and maintaining electrical systems and components on vehicles, plant and equipment (including heavy-duty and yellow machinery).

Completing job cards and timesheets for review by the Workshop Supervisor.

Attending Green Area Meetings to discuss technical issues and collaborate with fellow artisans.

Responding to breakdowns after hours and over weekends, providing critical field service support for Rand Water’s operations.

Repairing faults, performing field services, and escorting extra heavy loads during transport when required.

Ensuring safe maintenance practices, strict adherence to SHEQ standards, and using the latest testing equipment in support of Rand Water’s infrastructure reliability.
Minimum Requirements For The Rand Water Artisan Auto Electrician

Grade 12 or N3 qualification (or equivalent).

Valid Auto Electrician Trade Test Certificate (or equivalent heavy-duty/plant & equipment certification).

Valid C1 Driver’s licence.

At least two (2) years’ experience in heavy-duty plant & equipment, yellow machinery, vehicles and mobile plant systems.

Strong field service and heavy-duty electrical maintenance experience.
Knowledge & Skills

Basic and relevant SHEQ knowledge and compliance in heavy industrial environments.

Comfortable working with the latest testing equipment and diagnostic tools.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to diagnose and service diesel injection systems, heavy mobile equipment, and industrial electric vehicle systems.

Customer‐service oriented, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills.

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and supervise/coordinate when required.
