Job Description

RCL Foods is seeking a qualified and experienced Electrician to join our Spreads Division in Boksburg. The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Superintendent and will play a key role in ensuring efficient, reliable, and cost-effective electrical maintenance while adhering to high standards of safety and workmanship.

Key Purpose of the Role

• Ensure optimal operation and maintenance of all electrical equipment.

• Minimize downtime through proactive inspections, troubleshooting, and timely repairs.

• Execute electrical projects within set timelines and specifications.

• Maintain compliance with all safety, housekeeping, and maintenance protocols.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Electrical Maintenance

• Perform efficient, cost-effective maintenance on all electrical equipment.

• Identify and resolve potential faults or breakdowns before they impact operations.

• Conduct regular plant inspections to prevent downtime.

• Complete electrical projects within agreed timelines and specifications.

• Ensure equipment is maintained according to best practices and manufacturer standards.

2. Stand-by & Callouts

• Participate in stand-by duty rotation as required.

• Respond promptly to callouts to minimize production downtime.

• Apply proper fault-finding techniques to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.

3. Overtime Work

• Be available to perform overtime duties to ensure maintenance schedules are met.

4. Safety & Housekeeping

• Enforce Siqalo Foods’ safety codes and housekeeping standards.

• Ensure compliance with lockout/tagout (work permit) systems.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

5. Administration

• Complete all work orders accurately with correct information.

• Submit completed work documentation promptly to avoid backlogs.

6. General Responsibilities

• Ensure no repeat maintenance issues due to poor workmanship.

• Prevent unnecessary fines by maintaining power factor correction equipment.

• Follow structured fault-finding procedures to avoid unnecessary costs.

• Practice effective time management to maximize productivity.

Minimum Requirements For The RCL Foods Artisan Electrician Position 

Education & Qualification

• N3 Certificate with relevant Electrical Trade Test (completed).

Experience & Training

• 5+ years’ experience as an Electrician in an FMCG manufacturing environment.

• MV training (Medium Voltage) – Valid certificate.

• Experience with AC and DC Drives.

• PLC experience and training (certificate required).

• Exposure to instrumentation and automation systems.
