Join RCL FOODS as an Artisan Fitter within our dynamic Sugar & Milling Division, based at our Malelane plant in Mpumalanga. We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Fitter with strong technical knowledge, hands-on experience in maintenance and mechanical repairs, and a passion for safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities For The RCL Foods Artisan Fitter Position

As an Artisan Fitter, your duties will include:

• Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance in line with job cards and plant requirements.

• Attend to mechanical breakdowns and faults swiftly to minimize downtime.

• Operate and rig heavy equipment using overhead cranes.

• Install, inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical systems including:

  • Valves, pumps, gearboxes, and conveyor systems

  • Centrifugal fans and general mechanical plant equipment

  • Pressure vessels

• Maintain high levels of safety, housekeeping, and quality in compliance with OSHA and RCL Foods standards.

• Participate in new project installations and off-crop planning.

• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and fault-finding activities.

• Work as part of a team to ensure optimal plant performance.

Minimum Requirements

• Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical Fitting

• N2 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

• Proven completion of a formal institutional training program

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a trade-tested Artisan Fitter in a manufacturing or milling environment

• Hands-on knowledge of preventative maintenance systems

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and use diagnostic tools

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills

• Must be a South African citizen

• Must be willing to work overtime, perform standby duties, and adapt to rotational shifts

• RCA and mechanical fault-finding

• Mechanical fitting, rigging, welding basics

• Equipment and plant diagnostics

• Safety-conscious and quality-focused

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Time management and attention to detail

• Basic computer literacy is advantageous
