Purpose of the Job

To safely and efficiently perform preventive maintenance and repairs on underground electrical equipment, following documented work orders and company safety standards.

Key Responsibilities For The Samancor Maintenance Artisan Elecrician

1. Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ)

• Comply with all SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox).

• Adhere to all legislated safety, health, and environmental standards for every task.

• Perform proper isolation and lockout procedures, with all relevant documentation.

• Assess, identify, and respond to potential risks in work areas.

2. Customer Focus

• Ensure no equipment is handed over without being properly maintained.

• Always work with authorized work orders or notifications.

• Deliver work that meets or exceeds customer satisfaction standards.

3. Business Processes

• Execute tasks as per the Work Order and detailed Task List.

• Accurately capture work history and complete notifications to required standards.

• Confirm work completion time and task details on all work orders.

• Report discrepancies between task instructions and job requirements to the Maintenance Supervisor.

• Communicate any shortages of spares, equipment, or other job-related constraints.

• Generate maintenance notifications based on inspections.

• Conduct fault-finding and live testing of equipment and machinery (as per electrical voltage certification).

Minimum Qualifications

• Grade 12 / N2.

• Trade Test (Section 13 Electrical Trade Certificate).

• Section 26D QCTO Trade Certificate.

• High Voltage Competence Certificate.

Experience & Requirements

• 5 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance or mining environments.

• Medical fitness as per organisational standards.
