Role Purpose
This role exists to support qualified artisans in performing maintenance, repairs, and breakdown services for Sandvik equipment at client mining sites. You will play a vital role in ensuring operational efficiency and equipment reliability.

• Assist artisans with maintenance, service, and breakdown repairs

• Conduct visual inspections on machinery and equipment

• Clean and organise workshop, machines, tools, and equipment

• Follow workshop processes and layout maps

• Check hoses, wrapping, and mechanical components

• Relay operational messages and updates between departments

• Provide accurate feedback to artisans on equipment condition

• Adhere to SMRT SHEQ safety standards, objectives, and procedures

• Use correct tools and PPE at all times

• Report hazards, unsafe conditions, and risk behaviour immediately

• Participate in incident and accident investigations

• Perform technical readings and basic diagnostics

• Assist with both planned and emergency maintenance tasks

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / N3 Technical Qualification or equivalent

• Basic computer literacy (Excel, data entry, reporting)

• English proficiency (written & verbal)

• Experience in a manufacturing or engineering workshop

• Exposure to mechanised mining equipment (advantage)

• Physically and medically fit to work in a workshop/underground environment

• Team player with strong communication and safety awareness

• First Aid Level 1 (advantageous)
