About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and reliable Assistant Artisan to join our team and support the maintenance and breakdown services provided to Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology clients.
As an Assistant Artisan, your primary responsibility will be to support qualified artisans in maintaining and repairing equipment efficiently and safely. This position plays a vital role in ensuring our workshop operations and client services run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities

Assist artisans with service and breakdown activities on mechanised mining equipment.

Perform visual inspections of machinery and report findings.

Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment, including tools, machines, and equipment.

Adhere to workshop layout protocols and follow instructions accurately.

Check and secure hoses, wrapping, and other key components.

Relay operational messages and updates between team members or departments.

Provide regular feedback to artisans on equipment condition.

Follow and contribute to the SHEQ management system (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality).

Use correct tools and safety equipment as per company standards.

Report any hazardous conditions or unsafe acts immediately.

Participate in incident and accident investigations.

Support both scheduled and unplanned maintenance and breakdown interventions.

Perform technical readings and assist with data collection.
Requirements For The Sandvik Mining Assistant Artisan PositionÂ

Grade 12 / N3 Technical Qualification or equivalent

Basic computer literacy, especially in Excel, graphs, and charts

Proficient in English (written and spoken)

First Aid Level 1 certification (advantageous)

Previous experience in a manufacturing or mechanical workshop

Exposure to mechanised mining equipment (advantageous)

Physically and medically fit to work in workshop and/or underground environments
