About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Electrician to join our mining operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining electrical systems, troubleshooting faults, and ensuring full compliance with safety regulations in line with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA).

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform safe maintenance and repair of equipment and machines to ensure maximum availability and reliability.

• Ensure engineering technical compliance with all mine standards and procedures.

• Conduct inspections and record findings on checklists and job cards.

• Identify and repair faults without supervision.

• Maintain excellent housekeeping in the work area.

• Achieve planning and productivity targets safely.

• Perform thorough risk assessments before starting work.

• Be available for shifts, overtime, and standby duties as required.

Minimum Requirements For The Seriti Artisan Electrician C3

For Internal Candidates:

• Grade 12 with Mathematics (Not Maths Literacy) and Physical Science (minimum E symbol) plus two relevant N2 trade-related subjects as per MQA guidelines, or

• N2 with four relevant trade-related subjects as per MQA guidelines (N2 trade-related subjects advantageous).

For External Candidates:

• Grade 12 with Mathematics (Not Maths Literacy) and Physical Science (minimum E symbol) plus four N2 trade-related subjects as per MQA guidelines.

General Requirements:

• Recognized Electrical Trade Test Certificate.

• Sound knowledge of the MHSA, safety systems, and regulatory standards.

• Gas Testing and Flameproofing certifications.

• Excellent safety record and equipment/tool knowledge.

• Good communication skills (English – read, write, and speak).

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

• Valid K53 driver’s license and own transport.

• Medical Certificate of Fitness (or ability to obtain).

Advantageous Skills & Experience:

• Underground coal mining experience.

• Minimum 2 years post-trade Electrician experience.

• HT Switching Certificate.

• Knowledge of HT Reticulation drawings, PLCs, and underground electrical systems (Gate end box, Genwest/Dimako, Guduza, Peflo, Microload).

• Experience with water pumps and jet fans.

• Safety & Risk Management course.
