Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Grade 12 / Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science

  • Valid Driver’s License and own reliable transport

  • Medically fit for underground work

  • Clear security screening record


Experience & Technical Skills Required:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in seismic system support, preferably in the mining sector

  • Practical knowledge of seismic hardware and connectivity

  • Competent in Seismic systems maintenance

  • Experience in diagnosing and testing:

    • NetSP/ADC

    • DSLAM modems

    • Seismometer-related communication systems

  • Skilled in data processing and seismic event analysis for system performance evaluation

  • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams (Engineering & Rock Engineering)


Key Responsibilities For The Sibanye-Stillwater Technical Assistant 

  • Maintain seismic systems and install new sites across Gold and Platinum operations

  • Ensure seismic system uptime above 85% through proactive maintenance

  • Monitor and ensure high data quality from seismic instruments

  • Conduct planned maintenance and address technical faults promptly

  • Collaborate with the Supervisor Technical on system-related issues and recommend improvements

  • Ensure all underground seismic system installations are completed within deadlines

  • Perform continuous equipment monitoring, health checks, and technical reporting

  • Compile and submit daily and weekly reports on seismic system performance

  • Provide after-hours support, including standby duties and call-outs

  • Ensure optimal planning, resource allocation, and compliance with technical standards
