About the Role
South32 is seeking an experienced Plant Electrician to join our team in a permanent full-time position. In this role, you will be responsible for routine electrical maintenance, equipment installation, and repair to ensure plant operations run safely and efficiently.
You will operate and test electrical equipment, troubleshoot faults, and maintain reliability standards in line with company safety protocols and supervisor requirements.
Key Responsibilities For The South32 Plant Electrician
As a Plant Electrician, you will:

Interpret maintenance schedules and coordinate planned and predictive repairs.

Access any required plant area safely to carry out electrical maintenance on industrial equipment.

Conduct daily safety inspections of electrical systems and assess equipment risks.

Maintain a clean, safe work environment while ensuring electrical reliability in your assigned section.

Work independently, collaboratively, and under pressure when needed.

Maintain and ensure proper care of maintenance tools and equipment.

Troubleshoot and repair maintenance equipment with minimal downtime.

Provide clear and timely feedback to your Supervisor.
About You
We’re looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical maintenance in an industrial or mining environment.

Fault-finding and maintenance experience with Allen Bradley VSDs (advantageous).

Medium voltage switchgear competence (advantageous).
-
Plant experience with substations, MCCs, transformers, motors, liquid starters, safety circuits, and switchgear (VCB/SF6) (advantageous).

MHSA knowledge or experience (advantageous).
Minimum Qualifications

Grade 12 (Matric).

N3 Trade Certificate.

Electrician Trade Qualification.

Valid driver’s license.
