Job Purpose

We are seeking a skilled and qualified Electrician to join our maintenance team. The role is responsible for performing and supervising (when required) daily electrical repairs, installations, and troubleshooting of systems and equipment across the business unit. The successful candidate will ensure all work is performed in compliance with legislation, health and safety standards, and electrical regulations. Tasks include the setup, maintenance, and repair of wiring, lighting systems, circuit breakers, and transformers.


Key Performance Areas

 Maintenance of Electrical Systems and Equipment:

  • Check in with the Services Office for scheduled jobs daily and after job completion.

  • Manage time effectively to complete daily assigned tasks and urgent repair jobs.

  • Prepare tools, equipment, and PPE in advance for each job.

  • Conduct preventative and scheduled maintenance of electrical systems and infrastructure.

  • Respond to electrical breakdowns, installations, and upgrade requests across the facility.

  • Investigate faults and diagnose issues in equipment or wiring.

  • Complete troubleshooting, repairs, and replacements according to safety and quality standards.

  • Install new electrical wiring, power systems, lighting, and circuit boards as per specifications.


Minimum Requirements For The Sun International Artisan Electrician Vacancy

 Education:

  • Matric (Grade 12)

  • 2-Year Diploma or Electrical Trade Test Certificate

 Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in electrical repair and maintenance

  • Supervisory or team leadership experience is an added advantage

 Certifications / Licenses:

  • Preferably registered with SAFMA or any recognized engineering/facilities body

  • Valid driver’s license is advantageous

 Work Conditions:

  • Must be physically fit and able to lift/control electrical equipment

  • Willingness to work shifts or weekends depending on operational needs


Technical & Behavioral Competencies

 Technical:

  • Knowledge of SHE legislation and electrical safety regulations

  • Ability to install, adjust, maintain, and troubleshoot all types of electrical equipment and systems

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and technical schematics

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)

 Behavioral:

  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently

  • Customer-centric with a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement
