Position Purpose
The purpose of this apprenticeship is to prepare apprentices to operate independently and productively, with the goal of becoming competent qualified artisans. The apprentice welder will receive structured training to:

Plan and prepare for welding activities.

Manufacture, assemble, inspect, and commission installations and assemblies.

Modify and repair components.

Apply theoretical knowledge and practical skills across a variety of contexts.
Key Outputs / Responsibilities For The Transnet 2026 Apprentice Welder
The programme aims to develop the ability to:

Plan and prepare the work site, equipment, tools, consumables, and materials for welding-related activities.

Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments effectively and safely.

Install, assemble, fit, and connect trade-related equipment and components.
-
Test, inspect, and commission welding-related equipment, installations, and assemblies.
-
Maintain, modify, and repair welding components and systems.

N2 Subjects

OR N3–N6 Subjects
