Job Purpose

The Unilever YES (Youth Employment Service) Programme is designed to provide young South Africans with meaningful work experience, practical skills development, and exposure to a professional environment. This 12-month programme serves as a stepping stone into the world of work, empowering participants to gain valuable industry knowledge while contributing to one of the world’s leading companies.


Main Responsibilities

As a YES Programme participant, you will take on support responsibilities across different business functions. These responsibilities ensure the smooth operation of key areas while giving you hands-on experience, mentorship, and accelerated workplace exposure.

Available Business Functions

  • Customer Development (CD): Work with leading retailers and supermarkets to build strong customer relationships, drive sales, and deliver mutually beneficial results.

  • Culinary: Assist in preparing product samples for demos, trade shows, and customer events. Support chefs with content creation for webinars and “how-to” videos.

  • Marketing: Build iconic brands, drive consumer engagement, and contribute to strategies that increase market share and brand equity.

  • Supply Chain: Gain exposure to the end-to-end value chain, including sourcing, manufacturing, and product delivery.

  • Human Resources (HR): Support talent management, employee engagement initiatives, and organizational development.

  • Finance: Assist with financial planning, analysis, reporting, and compliance.

  • Information Technology (IT): Provide tech support and contribute to Unilever’s digital transformation journey.

  • Mechanical Engineering: Participate in engineering projects and learn about world-class manufacturing processes.

  • Safety, Health & Environment (SHE): Support SHE initiatives by helping implement systems to improve workplace health, safety, and sustainability.

  • Communications: Contribute to internal and external communications, corporate affairs, and public relations.

  • Learning & Rewards: Support employee training, development, and reward strategies.


Minimum Requirements For The Unilever YES Programme 2025

To be considered for the Unilever YES Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • South African citizen, aged 18–34 years.

  • Currently unemployed and not studying full-time.

  • Completed Matric (Grade 12).

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (advantageous).

  • Not more than 2 years’ work experience.

  • Must not have completed a YES Programme previously.

  • Commitment to the 12-month programme.

  • Willingness to learn and grow within a professional environment.

  • Strong academic record.

  • Strong computer literacy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

  • A positive and proactive attitude.
