The Western Cape Government (WCG) Department of Infrastructure is excited to offer funded apprenticeship opportunities in the Electrical trade for suitably qualified individuals residing in the Garden Route District. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain technical qualifications, on-the-job experience, and launch a rewarding career in the construction and electrical sectors.
 Programme Overview
Successful applicants will participate in a comprehensive 3-year and 6-month Electrical Apprenticeship Programme. This structured programme includes:

Institutional and on-site practical training

Hands-on work on active building sites
-
Strict adherence to health and safety regulations
-
Work area maintenance and organisation
-
Basic administrative and documentation tasks
Upon completion, apprentices will earn an Occupational Certificate in Electrical (NQF Level 1), preparing them for a skilled career in the industry.
 Minimum Requirements For The WC Government Apprenticeship opportunities
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered:

Age: 18 to 30 years

Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen

Residency: Must permanently reside within the Garden Route District
-
Employment Status: Must be currently unemployed
-
Education: NQF Level 1 Electrical trade theory certificate, or a TVET equivalent, including a pass in Pure Mathematics and Science
-
Language Skills: Proficient in at least two official languages of the Western Cape (written and spoken)
Note: Applicants with relevant practical experience in the electrical trade will be given preference.
 Additional Requirements

Must be in good physical health

Will undergo a medical and substance abuse test

Must be willing to travel and work at multiple construction sites throughout the Western Cape

Must commit to signing an apprenticeship agreement with the Department

Strong technical (practical) skills

Basic electrical trade knowledge

General understanding of the built environment
 Stipend
Apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of R5,500 throughout the training period.
