About the Learnership

Are you passionate about working with heavy machinery and ready to build your career in the engineering and mining sector?
This Earthmoving Equipment Learnership 2025 offers a structured opportunity to gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the maintenance and repair of earthmoving machinery.

Learners will receive hands-on training and mentorship to become competent in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy earthmoving equipment, while also learning essential workplace safety and communication skills.


Key Outputs / Responsibilities

  • Successfully complete all theoretical learning, practical training, and skills assessments.

  • Complete all documentation for required building experience (logbook, training records).

  • Maintain a safe working environment in line with company safety policies.

  • Maintain good housekeeping and comply with quality and safety standards.

  • Demonstrate effective communication, teamwork, and professional behaviour.

  • Achieve all key performance indicators (KPIs) and learning milestones.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair earthmoving and heavy machinery.

  • Conduct basic troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Accurately report completed tasks and progress to supervisors.

  • Demonstrate self-management, responsibility, and performance ownership.


Minimum Requirements For X5 Barloworld Equipment Apprentice

  • Grade 12 / N3 with Pure Mathematics and Physical Science.

  • Grade 12 / N3 with English – minimum 50% pass.

  • N3/N4 in Motor, Diesel, or Electrical theory will be an added advantage.

  • Completion of the Technicians for the World (T4W) certificate is an advantage (compulsory before interview).

  • Computer literacy will be an advantage.

  • Willingness to work long hours and overtime when required.

  • Valid Code B or EB driver’s licence (Code C or C1 will be an advantage).
