RCL Foods is seeking 5 Millwright Apprentices to join our Spreads Division at Siqalo Foods on a 3-Year Fixed Term Apprenticeship Contract. The positions are based in Boksburg, Gauteng, and will report to the Engineering Site Services Lead.

This apprenticeship is an exciting opportunity for ambitious individuals who want to gain the skills, experience, and technical knowledge required to qualify as a Millwright Artisan.

Job Purpose

The primary purpose of this apprenticeship is to develop the technical competence and practical skills required to become a qualified Millwright. Through structured workplace learning, hands-on training, and theoretical classes, the apprentice will gain exposure to:

• Mechanical and electrical maintenance.

• Fault finding, repairs, and installations.

• Preventative and predictive maintenance practices.

• Industry-standard safety regulations and engineering processes.

Under the guidance of experienced Millwrights and professional mentors, apprentices will actively contribute to the smooth running of plant operations while preparing to complete their Trade Test.

Duties and Responsibilities

As part of the Millwright Apprenticeship Programme, successful candidates will:

• Undertake all non-specialised maintenance tasks within their area of responsibility.

• Assist in diagnosing and resolving engineering problems to optimise production output.

• Carry out plant repairs and perform routine preventative and predictive maintenance.

• Contribute to breakdown reduction initiatives by analysing causes and implementing continuous improvement measures.

• Participate in World Class Manufacturing (WCM) activities and adhere to defined Engineering and SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) policies.

• Use Kaizen problem-solving methods (5 Why, Fishbone diagrams, etc.) to investigate and resolve engineering losses.

• Adhere to all company safety rules, regulations, and 5S standards.

• Support strategic engineering plans to deliver maintenance benefits and improve plant reliability.

• Coach and assist other maintenance and operational staff by sharing knowledge, using SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and OPLs (One Point Lessons).

• Provide input into continuous improvement initiatives and make recommendations to enhance plant efficiency.

Minimum Requirements For The X5 RCL Foods Millwright Apprenticeships

To be considered for this apprenticeship opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Grade 12 / Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science.

• N3 – N6 qualification with relevant trade subjects.

• Technical aptitude with strong problem-solving skills.

• Willingness to learn, work in a team, and comply with company standards.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Commitment to completing the full 3-Year Apprenticeship Programme.
