John Thompson, South Africa’s largest manufacturer of industrial and utility boilers, is offering an exciting opportunity for young individuals to participate in its Apprenticeship Training Programme. This opportunity is based in Bellville, Western Cape, and is open to unemployed youth with a strong interest in engineering, metal fabrication, and boiler manufacturing.

Minimum Qualifications Required
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet one of the following academic criteria:

Grade 12 Technical with Metal Work, Welders Theory, Technical Mathematics (not Maths Literacy), and Technical Science

Grade 12 Academic with Mathematics (not Maths Literacy) and Physical Science

N2 Engineering with Platers Theory or Welders Theory, Mathematics, Engineering Science, and Platers Drawings

NCV Level 4 in Fabrication (No Maths Literacy accepted)
Note: Applicants with Electrical, Diesel, Fitting & Turning, Motor-related studies, National Diplomas, or who are already qualified artisans will not be considered.
Additional Requirements
Applicants must:

Be medically fit for relevant trades

Demonstrate an interest in engineering or technical trades

Be between the ages of 18 and 35

Reside in the Western Cape

Have no prior formal experience (training will be provided)
Programme Structure
Shortlisted candidates will undergo a psychometric assessment. Those who pass will be placed on a three-month evaluation period as unskilled workers. Upon successful completion, apprenticeships will be offered to candidates who show potential to complete the full programme successfully.
Apprenticeship training will take place at the John Thompson facility in Bellville, Cape Town.
