Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Engineer – HVAC Systems to join our engineering division. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and executing maintenance engineering activities with a focus on HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems. This role supports value delivery to customers through proactive maintenance strategies, system design verification, asset lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Resolve plant and equipment-related issues through hands-on and technical support.

Accurately capture and maintain asset data in CMMS (SAP), including verification and updates during site audits.

Link task lists and maintenance schedules to relevant HVAC and mechanical equipment.

Compile and maintain equipment-specific instructions and maintenance strategies.
-
Recommission HVAC and BMS equipment to meet original design specs.

Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and CCRAM (Compliance, Constructability, Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) standards.

Provide level 2 support for breakdowns and facilitate equipment reinstatement.

Perform technical quality audits, job observations, and root-cause failure investigations.

Generate detailed incident reports and preventive maintenance strategies.

Manage asset lifecycles and update equipment condition databases.

Perform cooling capacity calculations and maintain related data.

Approve technical specifications for new HVAC projects.
-
Participate in project meetings and ensure adherence to technical and safety standards.

Analyze performance data and recommend improvements.

Support procurement and documentation processes related to HVAC replacements and refurbishments.

Ensure service providers meet SLA compliance and budget constraints.

Conduct site visits, risk assessments, and technical evaluations.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Qualifications
-
BTech Degree, S4, or N6 in Mechanical/Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineering

Matric (Grade 12)

Code B driver’s license (travel required)
Experience
-
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HVAC system design, maintenance, and operation
Technical Competencies
-
Proficient in HVAC systems, schematics, controls, and diagnostics

Knowledge of SANS codes, OHSA, HIRA, and Building Regulations

CMMS (SAP) system proficiency

Capable of heat load calculations, project assessments, and risk notification tracking

Root-cause analysis, method statements, and first aid knowledge

Budget and SLA compliance management
