Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to undergo comprehensive training, perform technical work, and assist in various engineering projects while learning from experienced professionals in the industry. As a Learner Technician, you will develop key skills and competencies required for a successful career in the electrical or electronic engineering field.
Key Responsibilities
During your training, you will:

Develop a thorough understanding of safe working procedures in technical environments.

Learn how to safely use hand and power tools.

Conduct fault finding and diagnostics on electrical systems and equipment.

Assist with the installation, operation, and maintenance of motors, generators, and control systems.

Gain knowledge of lighting and illumination systems, including terminology, symbols, wiring diagrams, and types of control gear.

Participate in electrical installation work across various settings.

Understand energy management principles and practices.

Receive training in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and their applications.

Undertake basic welding training and its role in technical projects.

Gain exposure to fieldwork such as cable jointing, overhead line construction, and substation assembly.

Learn about battery chargers, battery banks, and electrical battery systems.

Minimum Requirements

Successfully completed S4 of the National Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.

Must pass a departmental proficiency test to assess knowledge in engineering fundamentals.
