Duties & Responsibilities
As part of the Mechanical Services team, the primary responsibilities include:
Planned Preventative Maintenance: Undertake planned maintenance tasks assigned by the Mechanical Services Team Leader, Foreman, or Artisan.
Re-active Maintenance: Respond promptly to reactive tasks as directed by the team leader or foreman.
Best Operating Practices: Ensure all maintenance and repair work is carried out following industry best practices.
Materials Management: Provide a detailed list of required materials to the Mechanical Services Technician to facilitate effective maintenance task execution.
Job Documentation: Complete and issue daily job cards and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules to the Maintenance Foreman.
Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to Tsebo House Rules and Occupational Health & Safety (OSH) regulations.
Workplace Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, organized workshop and plant rooms.
Quality Control: Ensure that all maintenance tasks are thoroughly checked and signed off by the Maintenance Foreman.
Task Efficiency: Measure and report on response times and task completion efficiency.
Additional Support: Assist other departments as necessary and be available for standby duties and overtime when required.
Skills & Competencies For The Mechanical Artisan Aid Job
To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following skills:
Mechanical Expertise: A relevant mechanical trade qualification with experience in air-conditioning repairs and maintenance.
Safety Awareness: A strong focus on workplace safety and adherence to safety protocols.
Tool & Material Knowledge: Familiarity with the tools and materials specific to mechanical maintenance tasks.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Organizational Abilities: Strong planning and organizational skills to manage work effectively.
System Knowledge: Proficiency with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Direct Expansion (DX) controllers.
Repair Skills: Competency in repairing and replacing motors, bearings, and other mechanical components.
Customer Relations: Ability to engage positively with customers and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education: Matric (High School Diploma) or equivalent.
Experience: 2-3 years of relevant experience in a similar mechanical maintenance environment.
Trade Qualification: A mechanical or relevant trade qualification is required.
