Introduction:
We are looking for a qualified artisan to join our team at the Kroondal Operations in Rustenburg. This position is ideal for someone with strong experience in diagnosing and maintaining machinery and equipment in line with technical specifications and sound engineering practices. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of equipment within the mineral processing plant.

Position Overview:
The main purpose of this position is to diagnose, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment in accordance with established technical specifications. You will be responsible for ensuring that all machinery and equipment are operating safely and efficiently to support production goals. The role requires a strong focus on safety, performance, and adhering to engineering best practices.

Key Duties and Responsibilities for the Minopex Engineering Artisan – Electrician

• Diagnostic and Maintenance Work:
  Investigate, diagnose, and carry out trade-related maintenance and repairs on equipment and machinery in accordance with maintenance requirements, standards, and specifications.

• Inspections and Safety Compliance:
  Perform daily inspections as required by the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations. Report any defects and breakdowns of equipment and machinery to the Supervisor in a timely manner.

• Equipment Development and Installation:
  Develop, modify, construct, and install all types of trade-related equipment necessary for the safe operation of engineering equipment in the plant.

• Safety Assurance:
  Ensure that all installations and equipment are safe and in optimal working condition once tasks are completed.

• Continuous Improvement:
  Continuously monitor equipment performance and failures to improve trade-specific equipment and systems for better efficiency.

• Collaboration with Production Teams:
  Work closely with production teams to ensure that maintenance activities do not negatively affect production output.

• Performance and Availability Support:
  Support the achievement of engineering availability and production performance targets, ensuring that maintenance-related tasks align with production goals.

• Record and Report Maintenance Information:
  Ensure that all maintenance-related information is accurately recorded and reported to the relevant planning office. This supports the maintenance of the planned/asset maintenance system.

Qualification Requirements for the Minopex Engineering Artisan – Electrician

• Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.

  • A valid Section 13 Trade Test / Section 26(D) certificate is required.

  • Valid driver’s license: Code B, EB, or C1.

  • Own transport to attend to call-outs as required.

Experience and Skills Requirements:

• Experience:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as a qualified artisan in a mineral processing plant or similar industrial environment.

• Certifications:

  • Valid MV MQA Certification.

• Technical Skills:

  • Experience with VSD (Variable Speed Drives) and Soft Starters.

  • Experience with DP and Pro-V Simocode systems is highly desirable.

• Other Skills:

  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).

  • Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
