Apprenticeship Opportunities for Unemployed Individuals (18–35) – Engineering Careers

Overview: If you’re passionate about pursuing a career in engineering, this is your opportunity! Necsa is offering a highly sought-after Apprenticeship Program for unemployed individuals aged 18–35. Successful applicants will receive accredited technical training, a monthly stipend, and accommodation during their training period. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various engineering trades and build a rewarding career.

Available Apprenticeship Trades:

Necsa is offering training in the following Occupational Certificate Trades:

  • Boilermaker Apprenticeship

  • Welder Apprenticeship

  • Toolmaker Apprenticeship

  • Electrician Apprenticeship

  • Instrumentation Apprenticeship

  • Millwright Apprenticeship

  • Fitter & Turner Apprenticeship

  • Mechanical Fitter Apprenticeship

  • Metal Machinist Apprenticeship

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Age: 18–35 years old

  • Residency: Applicants must reside in one of the following provinces:

    • Eastern Cape

    • Free State

    • KwaZulu-Natal

    • Limpopo

    • Mpumalanga

    • Northern Cape

    • North West

Minimum Requirements for the Necsa Apprentice Program | Unemployed Youth

Applicants must have one of the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) with Mathematics and Science

  • N2–N6 with 4 relevant subjects (including trade theory)

  • Technical Matric with Maths, Science, and trade theory

  • NCV Level 3 or 4 Engineering Certificate with 7 relevant subjects

Additional Requirements:

  • Technical knowledge and the ability to work in a team environment

  • Must be medically fit, pass security clearance, and undergo qualification verification and assessments

  • Only South African citizens will be considered
