Key Responsibilities and Primary Duties for Rand Water Artisan Aid Job Opportunity
1. Plumbing Assistance and Maintenance:
- Assist the Artisan with general plumbing installations and repairs, including pipes, taps, toilets, and geysers.
- Support the Artisan in arranging and transporting the necessary tools and equipment to the job site.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as unblocking drains, replacing washers, and fixing leaks.
2. Equipment Handling and Safety Operations:
- Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment manually or using the overhead crane.
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Assist in stacking materials and equipment safely, following occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines.
3. Workshop Support and Housekeeping:
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized workshop environment.
- Participate in fabricating pipeline equipment, including cutting pipes, threading joints, and assembling fittings.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of tools and report any faults to the Artisan or Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements – Qualifications and Experience:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent (e.g., N3 Certificate in a technical field).
- Work Experience:
- Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role within a plumbing environment, construction site, or maintenance setting.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Basic knowledge of plumbing tools and their usage (e.g., wrenches, pipe cutters, and plungers).
- Experience handling tools and assisting with pipeline installations is advantageous.
- Driver’s License: Advantageous but not mandatory.

Technical Knowledge:
- Basic understanding of plumbing tools, materials, and maintenance techniques.
- Familiarity with safety procedures for equipment handling and worksite operations.
