Key Responsibilities For the Rio Tinto Electrical Artisan Job Opportunity
Reporting to the Controller: Maintenance, you will:
Diagnose and repair power supply units.
Handle isolation and de-isolation of Furnace 33kV switchgear and 33kV capacitor banks.
Perform earthing of 33kV busbars, capacitor banks, and associated transformers.
Conduct routine maintenance on Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) units and electrical infrastructure.
Refill and maintain transformers and tap changers with transformer oil.
Run emergency power system tests and re-close 275kV, 33kV, and Furnace Supply Breakers after trips.
Perform high-voltage isolations for inspections and at Eskom’s request.
Conduct risk assessments for all assigned tasks.
What You’ll Bring:
N3 with Trade Test in Electrical (N4 is an advantage).
Completed Medium and High Voltage Switching Training.
3+ years of experience as a qualified electrician, with at least 1 year specializing in HT Electrical Machines.
