The purpose of this role is to support the Shift Electrician in executing electrical maintenance tasks aligned with company standards and safety protocols. The Assistant Electrician will assist in routine and emergency maintenance activities, contribute to equipment reliability, and help ensure the uninterrupted operation of machinery within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safety and Housekeeping:

Comply with all Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards and procedures.

Maintain a clean, safe, and obstacle-free working environment in line with industrial housekeeping protocols.

Adhere to Safal Steel maintenance manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and working instructions.
2. Electrical Support and Equipment Maintenance:

Assist the Shift Electrician or Senior Electrician in planned and corrective maintenance tasks.

Carry out minor repair jobs and support tasks that do not require direct artisan intervention.

Monitor and support maintenance standards and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.

Help troubleshoot basic electrical issues and report anomalies.
3. Stakeholder Communication:

Communicate observed equipment faults, irregularities, and non-compliance with operational parameters to the responsible electrician.

Provide regular feedback on progress and maintenance outcomes.
Minimum Requirements:
Education & Qualifications:

Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Electrical Engineering qualification
-
Trade-Tested Electrician with a Red Seal certification from an approved training center
Experience:

3 to 5 years post-qualification experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or heavy engineering environment
Skills & Competencies:

Strong awareness of safety procedures and SHE standards

Basic knowledge of electrical systems and plant equipment
