Key Responsibilities for SANSA 2025 Engineering Learnership

During this internship, you will:

 

Operate, monitor, and maintain antenna systems, RF equipment, electronic telecommunications, and computer systems used in satellite ground station operations.

Provide tracking, telemetry, and command (TT&C) services for satellite launch vehicles (SLVs), transfer-orbit support (TOS), launch and early-orbit phase (LEOP) missions, emergency response, and in-orbit testing (IOT).

Conduct routine preventative maintenance and first-line reactive maintenance on SANSA-owned and customer-owned space technology systems.

Participate in ad-hoc project tasks that support space operations and research initiatives.

Job Requirements

To qualify for this internship and in-service training program, you must meet the following criteria:

 

Education & Skills Requirements

S4/S5 Electronic Engineering qualification with strong academic performance, specializing in telecommunications.

Seeking practical in-service training to complete the qualification.

Understanding of microwave principles, satellite technology, and telecommunications coursework.

Proficiency in English with strong communication skills.

Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Good vision and manual dexterity (ability to use both hands effectively).

Work Environment & Availability

Ability and willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.

May require 7-day stay-in shifts based on operational needs.

Remote location with no public transport access—applicants must have their own reliable transport to commute to and from work.

Eligibility Criteria for Appointment

Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

 

Be 35 years of age or younger at the time of application.

Be a South African citizen.

Possess a valid driver’s license.
